Richard Cleo Rumsey, 60, of the 4100 block of Zodiac Lane, died Sept. 14, 1997, in his residence.
A native of Omaha, Neb., he retired as a chief petty officer first class in 1983 after 21 years of service for the U.S. Navy, having served three tours in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees. He was also a labor supervisor for Chesapeake Homes. Mr. Rumsey was a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 166 and Norview Masonic Lodge No. 113 AF&AM. He had also served in the Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Marie Rumsey; a daughter, Mary F. Hughes of Middleburg, Fla.; a son, Robert L. Rumsey of Virginia Beach; mother, Julia Sheldon Rumsey of Omaha; a sister, Virginia Rix of Omaha; three grandchildren, Robert A. Rumsey of Virginia Beach, Kirsten Hughes of Stephan Hughes, both of Middleburg.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Colonial Grove Memorial Park by Fr. Edward L. Richardson. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23509. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
