Rebecca Ghittino, 48, left us Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997. A loving wife, mother and friend, she will be missed by many.
Born in Flint, Mich., she lived in the Tidewater area for more than 20 years. Through her work as conference manager at the Association for Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach she could change lives. She was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Virginia Beach Meeting and lived as an example of Christian teachings. She was an activist for many just causes and a testimony to peace.
She is survived by her husband, Hank Ghittino of Virginia Beach; daughter, Jill West of Chesapeake; a son, Benjamin West of Hampton; mother, Beverly Weaver, and father, John Weaver of Flint; brother, David Weaver of Stafford County, Va.; a sister, Cathy Smith of Flushing, Mich.; and many loving friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at Virginia Beach Friends Meeting, Laskin Road, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to American Cancer Society for the purpose of breast cancer research.
