NORFOLK

VEST JOINS NDC MEDICAL CENTER: Dr. Walter E. Vest III has joined NDC Medical Center, a member of the Sentara Medical Group. Vest, an internal medicine physician, did his post-graduate training at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo., and completed his internship and residency programs in 1991 and 1994, respectively.

GLENN & SADLER EXPANDS CIVIL/ SURVEY DEPARTMENTS: Glenn & Sadler has expanded its civil/survey departments by adding six employees. W. Barry Forbes and Trish Hennessy-Webb were named civil engineers. Forbes was survey party chief with Langley & McDonald in Virginia Beach. Hennessy-Webb was with The Engineering Groupe in Woodbridge, Va. The firm has also added Thomas N. Reed, Brian L. Dressen, Tracey K. Dickerson and Heidi Young to its survey department. Reed and Dressen will serve as survey party chiefs, and Dickerson and Young will serve as support technicians.

SEGERBLOM JOINS LAW FIRM: Ronald L. Segerblom was named director of administration for Williams Kelly & Greer. A former naval officer, he has prior experience as a law firm administrator and as administrator of an accounting firm.

VIRGINIA

PHP HEALTHCARE CORP. REPORTS EARNINGS ON TRACK WITH EXPECTATIONS: PHP Healthcare Corp., based in Reston, announced earnings of $1 million, or $0.08 per share, for the first quarter of fiscal 1998 ended July 31, 1997, compared with $2.2 million, or $0.16 per share, for the same quarter in the previous year. Revenues for the current three-month period were $55.7 million, compared with $53.4 million reported in the first quarter of 1997. The company also earned $0.08 per share during the fourth quarter of fiscal 1997.

CIRCUIT CITY SALES DROP: Circuit City Stores Inc., a Richmond-based retailer, said Tuesday its second-quarter earnings fell 12 percent, due largely to lower sales at its personal-computer and electronics stores. Earnings for the three months ended Aug. 31 were $27.9 million, or 28 cents a share, down from $31.6 million, or 32 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago.

VIRGINIA BEACH

GOOD APPOINTED VICE PRESIDENT OF MASS MARKETING: Robert J. Good was named vice president of mass marketing at Approved Financial Corp. He will implement mass marketing strategies to the U.S. market. Approved Financial Corp. is a national financial institution headquartered in Virginia Beach.

PENINSULA

COLLEGE ALUMNI CENTER TO BE COMPLETED NEXT MONTH: The expansion of The College of William and Mary's Alumni Society center will be completed in October. The center will add an additional 13,000 square feet. The addition is designed to complement the older section.

CORRECTION

The NASDAQ Index for Monday should have been 1634.92 down 14.41. The Associated Press transmitted the incorrect index.
