Mabel E. Van Popering, 90, died Sept. 17, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
Born in Morristown, N.J., the daughter of the late Frank and Sarah Arnold Murphy, she resided for many years in West Sayville, N.Y., and then in Portsmouth. She had worked as a dispatcher for West Sayville Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. Van Popering is survived by her children and in-laws, Edward Arnold Van Popering of Willis Wharf, Va., Elaine D. and Willis L. Rogers of Chesapeake, Beverly A. and E. Lowell Ockers of West Sayville; her grandchildren, Matthew, Joel, and George Van Popering of Long Island, N.Y., Paul E. Rogers of Kingsland, Ga., Jennifer Coffee and her husband G. Scott, and Darren V. Rogers, all of Chesapeake; Amy R. Rogers of Ashville, N.C. and E. Lee and Stacy R. Ockers of West Sayville. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Harvey Bumstead and Tyler A. Coffee. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, and her son, Lance W.
A religious service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, West Sayville, by the Rev. Pamela A. Ward. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Sayville. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
