JAMES L. HORTON

James Lawrence Horton, 80, of the 4300 block of Fontana Ave., died Sept. 18, 1997, in his residence.

Born in Whaleyville, Va., he was retired from civil service from the Norfolk Naval Air Station. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Whaleyville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cathleen S. Horton; six daughters, Betty Roberts, Jacqueline Elliott, and Alice Johnson, all of Chesapeake, Carlyon Jones of Suffolk, Gloria Edwards of Norfolk, Patricia Meachum of Maryland; two sons, Timothy Horton and Jimmy Horton, both of Chesapeake; a brother, William T. Horton of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jane Davis. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and other times at 4315 Fontana Ave., Chesapeake. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
