ROBERT T. BUTLER

Robert Turner Butler died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 1997, at home.

A Norfolk native, Mr. Butler was a 1926 graduate of Maury High School. He also graduated from Duke University where he played on the varsity tennis team and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he worked in Norfolk for Waller and Woodhouse accounting firm and later in Virginia Beach as secretary-treasurer of J.K. Parker Inc., a steel construction company. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension and served as the church treasurer for many years. He also belonged to the Pyramid Club.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith Kneeburg Butler; two daughters, Kristina B. Banks and Linda B. Waller; a son-in-law, James A. Waller Jr.; three grandchildren, Tanya K. Banks of Bethesda, Md., Kristina E. Waller and Byron A. Waller; and six nieces.

The family will be at home at 410 Talbot Hall Road. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Church of the Ascension. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the general fund of the Church of the Ascension, 405 Talbot Hall Road, Norfolk, Va. 23505. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
