LONG TO SERVE ON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVES ASSOCIATION: Connie W. Long, vice president of membership and organizational development for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, was elected treasurer for the Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. She will serve a one-year term.

NEW STORE AT BERKELEY COMMONS: An ENZO Angiolini store, a shoe and accessory retailer, has opened at Berkeley Commons Outlet Center in Williamsburg.

HAMPTON

MAYOR RECEIVES NATIONAL AND STATE AWARDS FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Mayor James L. Eason has been honored for his contributions in economic development. The city leads Hampton Roads in new manufacturing jobs. The Virginia Economic Developers Association selected Eason as Virginia Economic Development Volunteer of the Year. The National Council for Urban Economic Development will honor Eason with the Economic Development Leadership Award for Public Service at its annual conference Monday.

VIRGINIA

ECKERD BEATS DEADLINE: Drugstore giant Eckerd Corp. has met the deadline for installing the type of computerized prescription records system it should have had when it opened in Virginia three months ago, a spokesman said.

Eckerd finished installing the system in its 113 Virginia stores by mid-afternoon Tuesday, two days before the deadline set last month by the state Board of Pharmacy. With the board's approval, the installation means Eckerd will avoid paying all but $100,000 of the $537,000 fine the board imposed in August as a result of prescription errors and other problems that marked Eckerd's debut.

GARRIOTT NAMED ASSOCIATE AT LAW FIRM: Knight, Clarke, Dolph & Rapaport named Richard E. Garriott Jr. an associate. He will concentrate in civil and criminal litigation and litigation under the Virginia Workers' Compensation Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act.
