MATTHEW JONES

Matthew Jones, 82, of the 100 block of Richard Shaw Road died Thursday, Sept.18, 1997, at the home of his son, Carl L. Jones of the 800 block of Drawbridge Drive, Chesapeake.

A native of Moyock, he was a retired employee of the Borden Chemical Co., Chesapeake, after more than 35 years of service. He was a member and trustee of the Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church, Moyock. Mr. Jones was the widower of Addie Littles Jones and the son of the late Linwood Jones and Maude Bright Jones.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Olga McPherson of Moyock; a son, Carl Linwood Jones of Chesapeake; three brothers, the Rev. Walter Jones, Josephus Jones and Robert W. Jones Sr. of Moyock; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church, Tulls Creek Road, Moyock. Burial will be in Moyock Community Cemetery, Moyock. The family will be at the home of the deceased, and the viewing will be at Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
