Eugene Roy Evans, 68, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 1997, in his home.
A native of Seward, Pa., he was a security officer for the Virginia Department of Transportation and had retired as chief of police for the cities of Smithfield, Va. and Youngwood, Pa. Mr. Evans was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in the military police.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Doris J. Evans; three sons, Eugene Floyd Evans, William Gerald Evans, Steven Roy Evans, all of Pennsylvania; a sister, Doris Ruddon of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Wendell Evans of North Carolina, Gary Evans of Virginia; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. T.A. Powell. Burial will be private. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. After the service on Sunday, the family will be at 4029 Breakwater Drive, Portsmouth. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
