Genelia Zell Tolbert McRary, 80, quietly slipped away from her home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sept. 21, 1997.
``Mrs. Mac'' was a native of Lenoir, N.C., and the widow of Bearl W. McRary. She was a charter member of Taylor Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda J. McRary and her husband, William Pitt of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; her two sons, Jack G. McRary and his wife, Shirley, of Hamlet, N.C., and Douglas E. McRary and his wife, Linda, of Chesapeake; two sisters, Ruby T. Deal of Long Beach, Calif. and Lynda T. Quinn of Hickory, N.C.; and a brother, Ross M. Tolbert of Minneapolis, Minn. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who will affectionately remember ``Mama Girl.''
Zell was a devoted wife; a selfless loving mother; a kind and loyal friend and a faithful Christian whose memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be conducted by Richard Liverman at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of choice. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
