MARY W. CROSS

Mary Ward Cross, 93, of the 1300 block of Myrtle Ave., died Sept. 20, 1997, in The Churchland House.

She was born in Hobbsville, N.C., and was the widow of Arthur N. Cross. She was an active member of Norfolk Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1935, where she held many offices. She retired as a civil service bookkeeper at Little Creek. Mrs. Cross was a member of Great Bridge Senior Citizens Club. Her volunteer work included Meals on Wheels, Red Cross and Chesapeake Civic Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Marion C. Marple of Silver Spring, Md.; two sons, Dr. Lawrence N. Cross of Portsmouth and Arthur Don Cross of Chesapeake; three sisters, Burnell Arrington, Geraldine Keeter, both of Portsmouth and Sarah Denby of Florida; seven grandchildren, Gary Lynn Cross, Arthur D. Cross II, William Barry Cross, Timothy David Manning, Marilynn Schander, Beverly D. Curles and Leanne Gordon; 15 great-grandchildren; and other close relatives, Daphne Yon and Susie Mae Hudgins.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Norfolk Seventh-day Adventist Church by Pastor Ron Priest. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
