Richard James ``J.R.'' Taylor Jr., 47, passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in Como, N.C., Mr. Taylor was recently retired from Sentara Leigh Hospital where he served as the assistant director of Pharmacy. He was a registered pharmacist with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacology from the University of North Carolina. He was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the American Society of Health System Pharmacists and the Buckhorn Baptist Church in Como, N.C.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Whitley, and stepfather, Garnet Whitley, of Franklin; his father, Richard Taylor Sr., and stepmother, Beth Taylor, of Edenton, N.C.; sisters, Joan Dickens and brother-in-law, Jan Dickens, of Waldorf, Md. and Shirley Powell of Germantown, Md.; nephew, Jay Dickens of Bossier City, La.; stepbrother, Gordon Jethro of Greenville, N.C.; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, N.C. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, at 7 p.m. today. For those who wish, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Virginia Beach S.P.C.A. or to the National Children's Cancer Society. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
