Olie Earl Ballance, 73, of the 1200 block of S. Currituck Road, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997, at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Currituck County, the son of the late Earl Victor and Sudie Bell Walker Ballance, and the husband of Elizabeth Wallace Ballance of the home. He was a retired farmer and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, Mr. Ballance is survived by three daughters, Lynn (Jackson A.) Green of Suffolk, Charlene (Keith) Darden of Nags Head and Teresa (Clay) Martin of Murfreesboro; three sons, Carlton (Cheryl) Ballance, Tony (Alice) Ballance, and Ronnie (Amy) Ballance, all of Maple, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Pat Ballance of Maple; two sisters, Evelyn Creekmore of Moyock and Mavis Barber of Elizabeth City; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Ballance and a grandson, Aaron Greene.
A funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, by the Rev. Rand Stallings, Rev. C.H. Wellons, and Rev. Frank Thigpen. Burial will follow in the Snowden Cemetery, Maple. The family will be at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the Crawford Township Rescue Squad. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
