PHILLIP C. LIGHT

Phillip Charles Light, 63, died Sept. 22, 1997, in his home.

A native of Norfolk, he was the son of Alice Gaskins Light and Charles Claude Light. He graduated from Granby High School and attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary where he held springboard diving records that were not broken for many years. He earned two bachelor of science degrees from Ft. Lauderdale College in marketing and business management.

At Pensacola, Fla., he earned his wings and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had 15 years of service as a helicopter and attack jet pilot attaining the rank of captain. He moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1968 where he became a stockbroker and investment counselor. He was licensed also in real estate and insurance.

He is survived by a son, Darren M. Light of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Ashley Light Rentz of Gainesville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Caley Elizabeth Rentz, also of Gainesville; a brother, Paul D. Light of Norfolk; a sister, Shirley Light Pearson of Mattapoisett, Mass.; an uncle, Col. Aubrey S. Gaskins, U.S. Air Force, retired, of Virginia Beach; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services and interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Arthritis Foundation or your favorite charity. Fred Hunter Funeral Home, Ft. Lauderdale, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
