RONALD SAMUEL MELTON SR.

Ronald Samuel Melton Sr., 60, passed away Sept. 24, 1997. Ron fought a couragous battle with cancer since Jan. 23, 1997. He was supported day and night by Sallie, his wife of 41 years.

Mr. Melton was born in Galax, Va., however he was a resident of Virginia Beach most of his life. He retired from Tidewater Regional Transit due to his illness after 36 years of service. He was the son of the late Robert S. Melton and Avahlee Williamson Melton. Mr. Melton was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, and a member of the Kempsville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, John Walters Chapter, member of Khedive Temple and Lynnhaven Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife, Sallie P. Melton of Virginia Beach; son, Ronald S. Melton Jr. and his wife, Lu Ann Melton, and grandson, Jacob A. Melton, all of Virginia Beach, and son, Gary W. Melton and Louise Ratte of Roanoke, Va.; and brother, J.H. Melton of Virginia Beach. He will be missed by his friends and neighbors.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by Dr. Mark Olson and the Rev. Robert Crute. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, 4392 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, Va. 23462. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
