OSCAR L. FREEMAN

Oscar Laten Freeman, 74, of the 300 block of Askewville Road died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at his home.

He was a native of Bertie County and a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Freeman had retired from Rivercity Construction as a line foreman. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cobb Freeman; a daughter, Debbie F. Stevenson of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; three sons, Butch Freeman of Winton, Jeff Freeman of Edenton, David Freeman of Colerain; three sisters, Elizabeth F. Miller of Colerain, Margaret F. Joyner of Ahoskie, Cora Lee F. Harrell of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cobb Family Cemetery, Askewville Road, by the Rev. Tommy Tripp. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Walker Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to Roanoke-Chowan Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, N.C. 27910.
