Thomas Cooper Womble, 75, of the 2300 block of Market St. Ext., died Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 1997, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Washington.
Mr. Womble was born March 1, 1922, the son of the late John Henry and Mary Padgette Womble. He later married the former Audrey Jones, who preceded him in death in 1995. He served his country with a tour of duty in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a carpenter in Newport News for more than 15 years until his retirement. He attended the Baptist church.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert ``Bobby'' Womble and Linwood Womble, both of Washington; and a sister, Valeria W. Drew of Norfolk.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, by the Rev. Mike Gladson. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home of his brother, Robert ``Bobby'' Womble, 6255 Clark's Neck Road, Washington.
