Fred Thomas Hicks, 77, of the 2400 block of Dominion Ave. died Sept. 25, 1997.
Born in Hampton, Tenn., he was retired civil service, having been employed by the Public Works Department. He was a member and deacon at both Trinity Baptist Church and Azalea Baptist Church, where he was also a co-founder. He was a member of the Virginia Beach Chorale and S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., Norfolk Chapter. Mr. Hicks was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Native American of the Cherokee Nation.
Survivors include his wife, Novella Virginia Hicks; a son, Paul Thomas Hicks and wife, Debra M., of Norfolk; a sister, Edith Oliver of Akron, Ohio; a brother, Lewis Hicks of Hampton, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Michael Paul Hicks, Wendy Michelle Hartman, Christopher Paul Hicks and Heather Dawn Hicks.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. John P. Mason and Dr. Danny Owens. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
