Here are tips on fall largemouth bass fishing from Virginia Beach's Jim Clark, a professional guide concentrating on Back Bay, Currituck Sound and nearby rivers:
``Take advantage of north winds. They lower the water level in our local rivers and streams and concentrate the fish in deep holes on the bends.
``If you find one fish in one of these bends, chances are there'll be at least one more, maybe a bunch, so work the area real good.
``Fish all day long, not just early and late, as you would in hot weather. Bass have two feeding periods every day and if you stay around long enough, you should be there for at least one of them.
``Keep flexible. Try different lures. Usually, though, the fish will hit anything reasonable when they're in one of these feeding moods. But don't lock into trying just one pattern.
``Keep moving, keep experimenting. If you don't find fish in one bend of the river, try the next and the next. Then maybe go back to the first one.''
