CECIL J. KAY JR.

Cecil James Kay Jr., 71, of Sandy Shores Drive in Northampton County died Sept. 26, 1997, in Halifax Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Portsmouth on Sept. 30, 1925, and was a computer specialist retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was the son of Cecil James Kay Sr. and Mertice Sturgis. He was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 216 for 25 years in Portsmouth. Mr. Kay was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Maria A. Kay; two sons, Cecil James Kay III of Franklin, Jerome Carlyle of Portsmouth; a daughter, Cheryl Jane Di Stefano of Henrico; a brother, Edwin Thomas Kay of Henderson; six granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Olive Branch Methodist Church Cemetery by David Craig. Family will receive friends at Branch Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
