David Russell Savage, 79, of the 3800 block of Augustine Circle, died Sept. 25, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the son of the late Linnie and Alberta Diggs Savage. He had retired from Kimberly Oil Company and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Windsor. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Glady B. Savage; two daughters, Barbara Joyner of Hampton and Virgie Jordan of Virginia Beach; two foster daughters, Elisa Lewis and Catrina McCracken, both of Portsmouth; a son, Willie Savage of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; a brother, James C. Savage and a sister, Mildred Swift, both of Norfolk; a niece; a nephew; several cousins; and a son-in-law, James McCracken of Portsmouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Grove Baptist Church, 5910 West Norfolk Road, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Alex Bell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chesapeake.
