SARA A. BOYLAN

Sara Ann Boylan died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997.

A native of Norfolk, she had been a Peninsula resident since 1954. During 22 years of civil service at Fort Monroe she served as a telephone operator, I.D. card clerk and computer programmer, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Boylan was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Boylan, and a sister, Margaret A. Spalding.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary ``Bonnie'' Laura Dyal of St. Mary's, Ga.; two sons, Michael S. Boylan of Brooklyn, N.Y., and John A. Boylan of Hampton; five sisters, Mary Louise McDonnell of Norfolk, Emma Lee Forrest of Virginia Beach, Agnes G. Saucier of Wedgewood Lake, N.C., Angela M. Bailey of Norfolk and Catherine T. Miller of Chesapeake; two brothers, Harry J. Hicks and John C. Hicks, both of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Donald J. Winter. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
