Jack Garland Boyd, 79, of First Colonial Inn, Virginia Beach, died Sunday Sept. 28, 1997, in a hospital.
Mr. Boyd, a native of Portsmouth, retired as vice president of sales for the Charles W. Priddy Company. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and former member of Churchland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Vernell Verlander Boyd; a daughter, Mary Ellen Smith and son-in-law, Robert W. Smith of Chesapeake; a son, Jack G. Boyd and daughter-in-law Pattie Boyd of Williamsburg; and four grandchildren, Jeremy and Ashley Boyd, Katie Slingerman and Adam Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by Dr. R. Clint Hopkins. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at the daughter's home. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
