MARTHA S. BABB

Martha Stallings Babb, 93, formerly of the 800 block of Orville Ave., died Sept. 29, 1997.

She was born in Isle of Wight County, Va., and was the widow of Nathaniel James Babb. Mrs. Babb was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church and WMU and served as Sunday School superintendent of the primary department for more than 30 years.

Survivors include a son, Judge Robert F. Babb of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Robert F. Babb Jr. of Richmond and Mary Babb Morris of Charlottesville; four great-grandchildren; and a foster son, Bill J. Johnson of Dayton, Ohio.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Frank Hughes Jr. The family will receive friends at 5004 Pinecroft Lane, Portsmouth. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to South Norfolk Baptist Church, 1101 Chesapeake Ave., Chesapeake, Va. 23324, or a favorite charity.
