CLARENCE P. BOTTOMY

Clarence Paul Bottomy, 80, of Virginia Beach and formerly of Alameda Isles, Fla., a retired dentist with more than 30 years in private pratice, died Sept. 28, 1997, in a Virginia Beach hospital .

Dr. Bottomy was born on Nov. 4, 1916, in Jewett, Ohio. He was the son of the late Clarence James Bottomy and Chloe Busby Bottomy. He was the widower of Marjorie A. Bottomy. Dr. Bottomy grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and graduated from Chagrin Falls High School Class of 1936. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University Class of 1940 where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity; and graduated from Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in 1944.

As a Navy Reservist, he served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps in World War II and the Korean War. After retiring from dentistry, he was a winter resident of Englewood, Fla. - spending summers in Ohio and later in Port Huron, Mich. He was a Master Mason of the Golden Gate Lodge 245 and was active for 50 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Gail Nelson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, David P. Bottomy of Virginia Beach; a sister, Margaretta Coleman of Las Cruces, N.M.; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A private family service will be conducted at a later date. Burial will be in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
