With the upcoming construction in the Medical Center complex around Brambleton and Colley avenues, parking is going to be a concern for many visitors and staff.
But according to city officials, plans to alleviate a parking shortage during the two years of construction are being worked out.
This month, EVMS plans to begin construction on an additional two floors of parking at the Fairfax Avenue garage. When completed, some 260 spaces will be added to the facility.
Also, off-site parking west of Southhampton Avenue will become available this fall, adding add another 240 spaces for vehicles.
Other options, including shuttle buses to ferry commuters from more remote lots, are still under consideration. Joan Stanus
