Charles Arthur Newman Capps, 29, died Sept. 29, 1997. He was a Norfolk native.

Survivors include a son, Michael Blackford of South Mills, N.C.; mother, Linda N. Capps of Norfolk; father, David T. Capps Sr. of Hertford, N.C.; biological father, George Cavallaro; a sister, Gelynn Leah Capps of Virginia Beach; a stepsister, Loni R. Adkins of Tennessee; a brother, David T. Capps Jr. of Warsaw, Ind.; two stepbrothers, David R. Lambertson of Virginia Beach and Lee Lambertson of Norfolk; stepmother, Patricia Capps of Hertford; aunt and uncle, Hope and Dennis Talbert of Springfield, Va.; andseveral nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Emma Newman.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. The family will receive friends at the home of Faith Capps, 5732 Lancelot Road, Virginia Beach, following the service. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is handling arrangements.
