BETTY A. BASS

Betty Ann Bass, 65, of the 500 block of Kellam Road, died Sept. 30, 1997, in Richmond.

Born in Portsmouth, she was the widow of Robert Earl Bass. She was a member of Haygood United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bass was an election officer for 30 years at the Virginia Beach Aragona Precinct. She was selected for the National Congress of Parents and Teachers Award for her dedication to the Parent Teacher Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Hazel Elizabeth Kunberger and her husband, Paul, of Richmond; two sisters, Bonnie Louise Cook of Portsmouth, Carrie Mae Shourds of Virginia Beach; three brothers, George H. Stublen of Portsmouth, John Stublen of Florida, Robert Stublen of Portsmouth; and a granddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Kunberger of Richmond. She was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Lee Stublen.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Haygood United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alan Reifsnyder. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
