Dorothy M. Moore of the 1800 block of Maple Ave. died Sept. 30, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
A native of Portsmouth, she was the widow of Clarence Moore and a retired cashier of the Navy Exchange. She was a member for more than 30 years of Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and its Widows Club and Women's Guild. Mrs. Moore was also a member of Queen Esther Tent No. 494, Order of Tents and Prentis Park Civic League.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy E.M. Pitchford of Chesapeake, Joyce James, Roselena Moore, both of Portsmouth; three sons, Charlie L. Moore, Clyde M. Moore, Johnny L. Moore, all of Portsmouth; three sisters, Florine Young, Roxanna Mitchell, Jean D. Carr, and a stepsister, Irene Chapman, all of Portsmouth; a brother, Herman Mitchell of Portsmouth; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a special cousin who was like a sister, Blanche Tillett of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Saturday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
