Two Delaware women have died as a result of injuries suffered in a Sept. 21 automobile accident.
Ruth G. Woods, 78, and Ruth T. Fisher, 82, both of Dover, died Monday at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The accident occurred when a 1994 Mercury driven by 68-year-old Ruth D. Hoch of Smyrna, Del., tried to cross U.S. 158 at the East Grouse Street intersection, and collided with a 1986 Ford truck driven by Richard A. Lewis, 64, of Rustburg, Va., police said.
Hoch, along with another passenger in her car, 86-year-old Erma M. Duncan, of Dover, Del., was also hurt. Hoch was treated and released at Outer Banks Medical Center. Duncan was taken to OBMC, but was later transported to Sentara Norfolk General. She was released Monday.
Lewis was treated at the scene by Dare County Emergency Medical Service personnel.
Hoch was charged with ``failure to see if a traffic movement can be made in safety.'' The investigation into the accident is continuing. KEYWORDS: ACCIDENT TRAFFIC FATALITY OUTER BANKS
