Going along with the new Chesapeake Conference Center's modern and stylish look is its unique, very simple logo which adorns its stationary letterhead, press releases, signs and even center personnel business cards.
What does it mean or stand for? The logo, created by the Norfolk based Group III Communications design agency, is a simple long curved line passing through a dome-like figure on the left.
``The curve line represents the center's roof line and the main shape represents the center's rotunda,'' said Bill Lindley, the Conference Center's general manager. ``But before we decided on it someone suggested that we run it by our Japanese friends here in the city to make sure it's not close to something obscene or off-color in Japanese. We were assured that it doesn't.''
Lindley said the unique glyph-like logo has gotten nothing but positive comments and response from those who have seen it.
``It's very simple, it's clean and it makes a statement,'' he said. ``It helps establish the quality stylish image we want to foster. Last night at our grand opening, we gave away drinking glasses with the logo etched inside the glass. People loved them and everyone wanted a glass with that logo. We're sure it will soon be very recognizable in the area.''
