The Hampton University family mourns the death of Mrs. Claudis Parker Harvey, mother of President William R. Harvey, who died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997. She was a resident of Brewton, Ala.
Mrs. Harvey was born in Monroeville, Ala. It was there that she graduated as salutatorian from Bethlehem Industrial Academy. She also attended Jefferson Davis Junior College in Brewton. Mrs. Harvey loved children, as was evidenced by her work in the Brewton Head Start Program and teacher in Baptist Hill Nursery School. She was a loyal and devoted member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church of Brewton, where she served as president of the General Missionary Board and as a deaconess. She was also active in the Sunday school program and sang in the Senior Choir.
She was preceded in death in 1975 by her husband, W.D.C. Harvey. Survivors include a daughter, Anne Harvey of Atlanta, Ga., and a son, William R. Harvey of Hampton; four grandchildren, Kelly Renee Harvey of Tallahassee, Fla., Tracey Marie Allison of New York City, William Christopher Harvey of Alexandria, Va., and Leslie Denise Harvey of Hampton; two sisters, Maude Wooding of Birmingham, Ala., and Bernice Wiggins of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Franklin Parker and Jack Parker, both of Pensacola; daughter-in-law, Norma B. Harvey of Hampton; and son-in-law, William W. Allison of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held Monday in Baptist Hill Baptist Church, Brewton. Presley Fluker Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
