SCHEIB JOINS PRACTICE: Dr. Sherry A. Scheib has joined Consultants in Internal Medicine, a member of the Sentara Medical Group. She received her doctor of medicine degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 1994 and did her post-graduate training at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center from 1994 to 1997.
DOLLAR TREE REPORTS QUARTER'S SALES: Dollar Tree Stores Inc., a Norfolk-based retailer that sells merchandise for $1 each, said its third-quarter sales rose 29 percent. Revenues in the quarter ended Sept. 30 were $142.4 million, up from $110.6 million in the year-earlier period. Same-store sales, or revenues at stores open at least a year, rose 7.4 percent. Dollar Tree has 865 stores in 26 states.
SUFFOLK
NEWPORT NEWS YARD LEASES SUFFOLK WAREHOUSE SPACE: Newport New Shipbuilding has leased another 300,000 square feet at the former General Electric plant in Suffolk. The shipyard plans to use the space to store furniture, combat systems, aviation maintenance equipment and other material from the aircraft carrier Nimitz, which is scheduled to arrive at the yard in March for an overhaul and refueling. The space will also be used for offices for the ship's Navy personnel. Last year the yard leased 90,000 square feet at the 750,000-square-foot building for a support and storage facility for the outfitting of aircraft carriers. Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler, which handled the new leasing, called it the largest lease deal in Hampton Roads in 1997.

OGLE NAMED MARKETING SPECIALIST: Hazel Ogle, formerly the division sales manager with Waste Management of Hampton Roads, has joined the Southeastern Public Service Authority as a marketing specialist.
VIRGINIA
CRESTAR TO LEASE COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT: Crestar Bank has established an equipment leasing capability to meet demand for such services among businesses, primarily in Virginia, Washington and Maryland, as well as in selected markets nationally. Leasing services will be provided by a subsidiary, Crestar Leasing Corp., which is based in Baltimore and headed by Daniel E. McKew, formerly chief operating officer of Signet Leasing Co., the equipment leasing subsidiary of Signet Bank. Crestar Leasing Corp. will lease equipment for a variety of industrial applications, including communications, construction, office furniture, printing, manufacturing, transportation, medicine and technology.
CRAIGIE IN RICHMOND SOLD TO BB&T: Shareholders have approved the sale of Craigie Inc., a Richmond-based securities firm, to BB&T, a North Carolina bank holding company, for $23 million. BB&T paid for Craigie with a stock transfer. The acquisition will allow BB&T, of Winston-Salem, to enter lines of business, including such Craigie specialties as capital markets and institutional sales and trading.
