5 NORFOLK WOMEN CHARGED IN FATAL STABBING

Five women have been charged with murder and malicious wounding in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Norfolk woman this week.

Police spokeswoman Maravia Ebong said the stabbing, which occurred Tuesday in the 1200 block of Tidewater Drive, resulted from a fight among the women. Police did not say what led to the fight.

The victim, LaJoy Howard, 20, died at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Wednesday morning.

Another woman, Leah Stanyard, 19, was injured in the fight and was treated and released from the hospital.

Arrested were:

Nicole Cartwright, 18, of the 6400 block of Knox St.

Lateaseau Cooke, 23, of the 600 block of New Jersey Ave.

Kiona Gregory, 20, of the 1200 block of Lead St.

Shataya Gregory, 19, of the 1200 block of Lead St.
