Retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Charles Joseph Allain, 68, of the 2700 block of Murray Ave., died Oct. 3, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of Andover, Mass., Lt. Cmdr. Allain had retired from the Navy after 25 years of service and from J.C. Penneys as a manager. He was a member of Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel in Virginia Beach.
Lt. Cmdr Allain was a member of the V.F.W., Disabled American Veterans 20, Retired Officers Association, 3rd and 4th Degree Member of The Knights of Columbus 367.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Mary Allain; a daughter, Roberta Ann Wood of Norfolk; a son, Charles J. Allain Jr. of Norfolk; three sisters, Dolores Chasse of East Falmouth, Mass., and Doris Plantamura and Marie Smith, both of Methuen, Mass.; four brothers, Bernard Allain of Brockton, Mass., Thomas Allain of Lawrence, Mass., Donald Allain of New Hampshire and Joseph Roger Allain of Salem, N.H.; and four grandchildren, Matthew Allain, Katie Allain, Melissa Wood and Kimberly Wood.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at Little Creek Amphibous Base Chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton National Cemetery with military honors.
