Courtney Marie Burgess, 14, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997.

She was a student at Manteo High School and had been attending Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church. Courtney was the daughter of Teresa F. and Reginald E. Burgess Jr. of Southern Shores.

Besides her parents, she is survived by one sister, Alexandra Dane Burgess of Southern Shores; her paternal grandparents, Ruth W. and Reginald E. Burgess Sr. of Chesterfield, Va.; and her maternal grandmother, Ramona Farmer of Grundy, Va.

A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Monday in the Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church by the Rev. Brad Bradshaw. The family will assemble at the church at 4:50 p.m. Monday. They will be receiving friends in their residence in Southern Shores. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Courtney Marie Burgess Scholarship Fund c/o Kitty Hawk Rotary Club, P.O. Box 717, Kitty Hawk, N.C. 27949.
