Sanford Miles ``Butch'' Boutchyard Sr., 58, a dedicated man of God, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997.
Butch was born in Fredericksburg, Va., where he graduated from Stafford High School in 1957. He was a former owner of Butch's Hotdogs in Manteo and a vendor. Butch was a member of Outer Banks Worship Center, where he served in the jail ministry, Dream Center, Thrift Store and Family Life Center. He had a heart for those struggling with addictions and worked with Dare Challenge, Overcomers and AA. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves for six years. He was the son of Marguerite Miles Boutchyard of Fredericksburg and the late Ira Boutchyard and was the husband of Kathryn Thomas Boutchyard.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Sanford Miles Boutchyard Jr. and wife, Linda of Midlothian, Va., Michael Craig Boutchyard of Richmond, Va., and Jesse Dillon Boutchyard of Kill Devil Hills; a sister, Marilyn Henderson and husband, Delbert of Fredericksburg; a niece; and a host of nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Outer Banks Worship Center by the Rev. David J. Daniels, with burial following on Roanoke Island. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo. Memorials may be made to Dare Challenge, c/o Outer Banks Worship Center, P.O. Box 668, Nags Head, N.C. 27959.
