Elizabeth Mae Garland, 97, died Oct. 6, 1997, in Locust Hill, Va.
Born in Vanceboro, N.C., she was the widow of John C. Garland Jr., former owner of Ideal Pharmacy, Portsmouth. She was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church and the Portsmouth Womens Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Salmon and Barbara Ann Garland, both of San Diego, Calif.; a son, J. Charles Garland III of Deltaville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Olive Branch Cemetery by Dr. Ector Lee Hamrick. Memorial donations may be made to Parkview Baptist Church or to Clarksbury United Methodist Church, Deltaville. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
