PORTIA V. COOKE

Portia Virginia Cooke, 47, of the 3500 block of Edenwood Circle died Oct. 4, 1997, in her home.

Born in Virginia Beach, she was an elementary school teacher for 21 years with Virginia Beach Public Schools. She was a member of New Jerusalem COGIC.

Survivors include a daughter, Janelle F. Haynes of Virginia Beach; a son, Jermaine A. Cooke of Virginia Beach; her mother, Alice Haynes; her father, George Haynes Jr.; sister, Fontaine H. Jackson; her grandparents, Lillian B. Adkins and Emily Haynes; a niece, Shayla R. Jackson; and a brother-in-law, Gus E. Jackson Jr.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in New Jerusalem COGIC, Virginia Beach, by Dr. B.K. Thuroughgood. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at P.G. Thomasson Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
