James Earl Shifflett, 68, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Elton, Va., and was retired as a self-employed brickmason.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Delia E. Shifflett; four daughters, Barbara Freemon and husband, Allen, of Nashville, Tenn., Beverley Morgan and husband, Frank, of Chesapeake, Bonnie Davenport of Chesapeake, Bridget Bunting and her husband, Bruce, of Suffolk; two sons, Richard Shifflett and his wife, Kay, of Portsmouth and Christopher Shifflett of Chesapeake; 13 grandchildren, James, Shannon, Frank Jr., Tyler, Terri, Yancey, Beau, Brian, Kacey, Matthew, April, Nicholas, and Brittany; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Loving Funeral Home, Churchland by Father James Carr. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
