PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia 76ers point guard Allen Iverson has appealed the one-game suspension the NBA imposed him following his no contest plea on Aug. 26 to charges of carrying a concealed weapon.
David Falk, Iverson's agent, filed the appeal Monday through the NBA player's union.
The NBA announced Friday that Iverson would have to sit out the season opener Oct. 31 in Philadelphia against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Iverson, last year's rookie of the year, was a passenger in a car stopped by police in New Kent County for speeding Aug. 3.
Police found a gun under his seat and two marijuana cigarettes in the car. The drug charge was subsequently dropped. KEYWORDS: APPEAL SUSPENSION
