Dorus Elihu Copeland, 73, of 837 Ryland Road, died Oct. 6, 1997, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Ernest and Callie Ward Copeland; and two brothers, Edgar Ray and Melvin Ernest Copeland.
A native of Chowan County, he was a member, former elder and trustee of Piney Woods Friends Meeting, Belvidere. He was a farmer, pork producer and co-owner of Copeland Brothers Trucking. A veteran of World War II, he was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion, Post 40, Edenton. Mr. Copeland was a member of the Ryland Ruritan Club and a former president.
Mr. Copeland is survived by his wife of 43 years, Blannie Winslow Copeland, three sons and their wives, Jeff and Jackie Copeland, Randy and Lisa Copeland, and Garry and Mary Sidney Copeland; a daughter and her husband, Bob and Jill Copeland Jordan, all of Tyner; a sister, Marie Peele of Edenton; six grandchildren, Landon and Meredith Jordan, Ashton Copeland, Cody Copeland, Sam Copeland and Callie Copeland.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Piney Woods Meeting, Belvidere, by the Rev. Rodney Powell. Burial will follow in the Copeland Family Cemetery at Mr. Copeland's home. The family will receive friends at the home. Evans Funeral Home, Edenton, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
