PROBE INTO SHIPYARD DEATHS

Federal regulators may announce as early as today the results of their investigation into a sewage leak that killed three workers aboard an aircraft carrier at Newport News Shipbuilding, an official said Tuesday. Tom Pope, the Norfolk-area director for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, said he could not disclose whether the shipyard faces any fines or citations until the investigation is complete. The company will not comment until it receives a formal report from OSHA, shipyard spokeswoman Jerri Fuller Dickseski said Tuesday. Pipefitters Roosevelt Eure Jr., 42, and James Morris Jr., 40, both of Newport News, and Richard Thompson, 45, of Virginia Beach, were killed in the July 12 accident aboard the Harry S Truman.
