RICHARD A. BEELER

Richard A. "Allen" Beeler, 64, former resident of Newport News and resident of Virginia Beach, died Oct. 7, 1997.

Born in Washington D.C., he grew up in Riverton, Va. He graduated from Warren County High School and in 1957 graduated from the Apprentice School at Newport News Ship Building. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He retired from Newport News Ship Building after 40 years.

For the past 31 years Allen taught evening classes at the apprentice school at N.N.S.B. as well as teaching at Thomas Nelson Community College and New Horizons Technical School. He also served as secretary treasurer for Monday Night Investment Club. He touched and influenced many and his passing will be a great loss to all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Janice W. Beeler; two sons, Richard A. Beeler Jr. of Newport News and Robert A. Beeler of Norfolk; his sisters, Alice Lacy of Fairfax, Va. and Frances Flowers of Front Royal, Va.; his stepdaughters, Lynette K. Janenko and her husband, Tom of Virginia Beach, Lauren B. Speth of Gates County, N.C. and Cynthia King of Norfolk; also his grandchildren, Lee Ann Speth, Nicholas Speth and Lindsay Janenko; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m Friday at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery by the Rev. Scott Edward Davis. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, today from 6 to 8 p.m.
