FLORENCE R. HOPKINS

Florence Rodgers Hopkins, 69, passed away Oct. 8, 1997, in Sentara Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hopkins was born April 24, 1928, in Norfolk, the daughter of the late John Thomas and Lillie Hope Rodgers. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

She is survived by her loving family: husband, John Sties Hopkins; six sons, John S. Hopkins Jr., Bernard Leroy Hopkins, Michael D. Hopkins, Timothy P. Hopkins, Dennis Patrick Hopkins, Michael Hopkins; a daughter, Christina Hopkins; three sisters, Bertie L. Eanes, Eunice R. Rabette and Catherine Pearce and husband, Kenneth; grandchildren, John III, Meredith, Daniel, Melanie, Russell, Michelle, Brandy, Candice, Angela, Timothy, Johnathan, Steven, Edward and Sarah; two great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Christlynn; and her aunt, Ethel Florence Hope.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Norfolk. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church by Father Jay Wagner. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held in the parish hall of the church.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to Sabato Wing of St. Pius X School, c/o St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7800 Halprin Drive, Norfolk, Va. 23518 or the charity of your choice.
