NEMIAH E. HICKS

Nemiah Etheridge Hicks, 81, died Wednesday Oct. 8, 1997.

A native of Gates County, N.C., he was a son of the late Lizzie Hill and Robert K. Hicks. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service on Route 2.

He is survived by his wife, Magnolia Ward Hicks; a brother, Gibson C. Hicks of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hicks was a member of Main Street United Methodist, the James L. McLemore Bible Class and past president of the class, Nansemond Masonic Lodge No. 77, past district deputy grand master of 33 Masonic District, past master of Hiram Lodge No. 340, past high priest of Mount Nebo Royal Arch Chapter No. 20, past associate Guardian of Bethel No. 28 International Order of Job's Daughters, Suffolk Shrine Club, Khedive Temple of Chesapeake.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum by Dr. Alan Felumlee with entombment following the service. The family will receive friends Thursday in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N.
