MARGARETTA M. SHTOGREN

Margaretta Mary Shtogren, 76, a resident of Atlantic Shores Retirement Community died Oct. 7, 1997.

Born in Boston, she trained as a nurse and developed into an accomplished artist, art teacher, gourmet cook and church organist. She was also a founding member in Japan in 1945 of the Air Force Wives Choral Group, the Skylarks.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, retired U.S. Air Force Major Gen. Anthony T. Shtogren; five children; Thomas A. Shtogren, Carol Van Valkenburg, Peter Shtogren, Maureen McGrath and Margaretta L. Moore; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom will deeply miss her gentle nurturing and loving care.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at noon Friday in the Church of the Holy Family. Burial will be private. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
