GREEN RUN UPSETS NO. 3 FIRST COLONIAL

In an effort to prevent big plays, Green Run got some of its own and stunned third-ranked First Colonial 29-14 Friday on the Stallions' home field.

Green Run opted for pooch kicks instead of regular ones to make sure the Patriots didn't get any long returns.

The Stallions (4-2 overall, 3-2 Beach) recovered two of the short kicks, but it was the one on the opening kickoff that set the tone.

``Full momemtum,'' said Stallions kicker Ryan Danaher.

Green Run recovered on the FC 24 and Alan McLeod scored on a 4-yard run seven plays later.

Green Run recovered a fumble on the Patriots' ensuing drive that set up a 32-yard field goal by Danaher for a 10-0 lead.

Green Run then held First Colonial (4-2, 4-1) to a three-and-out and got a great return out of Andre Jackson on Josh Culley's punt that led to an 8-play drive capped by a 3-yard scoring run by McLeod to make it 17-0.

``I am not going to kick deep to them. I played at FC and saw too many run back for touchdowns,'' Green Run coach Johnny White said. ``It's designed so that they don't return it on us. But if it's still loose on that second bounce, we're trying to get it.''

First Colonial tried to get back in the game on the running of King, who ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
