Ballard King Harrison, 78, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1997, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital.
He was born Aug. 6, 1919 in Botetourt County, a son of the late Elijah Franklin Harrison and Lillie Katherine (Grubb) Harrison. Mr. Harrison retired as a shuttle driver for American Retirement Homes. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and also in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his wives, Virginia Sue Lee Harrison and Janice Hardee Harrison.
Survivors include two daughters, Zane P. Studebaker of Roanoke and Sylvia L. Dooley of Union Hall; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a very dear friend, Joyce Grant and family of Buena Vista. Mr Harrison was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. Charles Joy. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today in Williams Funeral Service, Lexington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
