PROMOTIONS AT ACCOUNTING FIRM: Albert S. White III was appointed a member of Witt, Mares & Co. He joined the firm in 1988 as a supervisor in the tax department and serves as director of tax services. He will be based in Newport News. James D. Dobberteen was promoted to supervisor of the tax department for the accounting firm. He has been with the firm since June 1996 and works in the Virginia Beach office. Patrick J. Bowler was promoted to senior accountant in the audit and accounting department in Virginia Beach. Susan S. Tuttle was also promoted to senior accountant in the Williamsburg office. And, Maria B. Marston was named supervisor in the audit and accounting department in Newport News.

DOBSON REAPPOINTED: Mike Dobson, business development manager of Waste Management of Virginia, has been reappointed to the Virginia Recycling Markets Development Council for a four-year term by Gov. George Allen. Dobson is the current chairman of the council.

NORFOLK

SUMMS PRESIDENT OF AUTO DEALERS ASSOCIATION: Billy Summs, president of Atlantic Auto Auction, was elected president of the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association, Tidewater chapter.

VIRGINIA BEACH

APPOINTMENTS AT TRAVEL AGENCY: Sharon Hight was promoted to corporate manager at Gibson World Travel/American Express Travel Services. Maggie Gardner Dickerson, former manager of Lynnhaven Travel, has joined the company's corporate department.

CAMPBELL NAMED STAFF SUPPORT COORDINATOR: Beth Campbell was named a staff support coordinator at Metro Information Services. She will be responsible for staff support at various client sites.

MUNDEN NAMED MANAGER AT ACCOUNTING FIRM: Paul N. Munden, a certified public accountant, has joined the public accounting firm of Sullivan, Andrews & Taylor as a manager. He was formerly a manager with Colby & Co.

PENCE NAMED FELLOW: Edward W. Pence Jr., a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the vice president of Stroud, Pence & Associates, was elevated to the level of ``Fellow'' within the society.

FINANCIAL SECURITY FORMED: Partners Reginald C. Corinaldi, A. Ray Megginson, Robert J. O'Brien and Richard D. Woodall have formed Financial Security Management. The firm, located at 448 Viking Drive, Suite 240, provides educational seminars, asset management, brokerage, insurance services and comprehensive financial planning for individuals and business owners.

VIRGINIA

CALLAHAN AND PURTHER APPOINTED TO NEW POSITIONS: Metro Networks, a Houston-based provider of traffic reporting services and a supplier of local news, sports, weather and other information reporting services to the television and radio broadcast industries, named Thom Callahan general manager of Norfolk/Richmond and Jim Purther director of operations in Richmond.
